Grandparents Plus is the national charity which champions the vital role of grandparents and the wider family in children’s lives – especially when they take on the caring role in difficult family circumstances and when they have lost contact with children. We do this because we want to make children’s lives better.
We offer advice, information and support to grandparents and other family members who are looking after a relative’s child or are thinking of doing so.
We also run a helpline for grandparents who have lost, or are losing, contact with their grandchildren.
Family and Friends Advice Line: for those looking after a relative’s child

We provide a free, confidential and impartial service run by experienced and sympathetic professional advisers.
- advice and information on welfare benefits and other sources of financial support, and a wide range of other issues including employment, housing, debt, social care and education
- signposting to other appropriate organisations.
Our advisers can also give more information about the services Grandparents Plus offers kinship carers – grandparents and other members who are raising a relative’s child – including the national Support Network for the wider family raising children.
Grandparent Contact Helpline: for those who’ve lost contact with a grandchild

Our friendly team of trained staff and volunteers can offer confidential support. Please note the helpline is open on Mondays and Fridays only between 2pm and 4pm.

Calls to our Advice Line and Helpline cost the same as calls to any geographical (01 or 02) phone number, whether you are calling from a landline or a mobile. If you have an inclusive calling plan your free calls will include calls to this number.
