Poverty Project
Funding by the Equality and Human Rights Commission, Grandparents Plus has been working with the Department for Social Policy and Social Work at the University of Oxford and with grandparents expert Geoff Dench to explore where older people’s poverty and child poverty meet around grandparental care. The interim report of this project includes an analysis of British Social Attitudes Survey data from 1998 – 2007, was published in June 2009 and can be found below. A final report is due in autumn 2009. This report will focus on the role grandparents play in families who are particularly at risk of poverty in particular; single parent families, Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Black Caribbean families, families with disabled children and/or disabled parents and kinship carers.
