Statistics and Polling

Grandparents Plus works with partners to commission research and improve the evidence base on the role of grandparents and the wider family.  You can download a summary of current statistics on grandparents via the link below.

In June 2014 Grandparents Plus, Save the Children and the Family and Childcare Trust commissioned an Ipsos Mori poll to explore the significance of the grandparent-grandchild relationship and to find out whether grandparents were taking time off work to care for grandchildren, what their finacial contribution towards their grandchildren might be and also what grandparents and the wider public thinks about new employment rights for grandparents.

Briefing Papers

In February 2011 Grandparents Plus published the first in a series of policy briefing papers exploring the reasons why grandparents and family and friends carers step in to care for children. Focusing on the most common cause, parental drug and alcohol misuse, the briefing reveals new analysis of 2010 survey data.   You can download a copy of the briefing paper below.  The briefings will be published to coincide with a series of seminars hosted by the charity over the coming year.
