grandparents plus training
Grandparents Plus's trainers are highly experienced and often grandparents themselves. Training courses include:
Kinship Placements with Grandparents and Other Older Relatives
A one-day workshop for up to 15 participants who work with or for children and families in the statutory and voluntary sectors. The course has been designed to include Children's Guardians, permanency panel members and managers. It is suitable for in-service training or for open workshops.
Grandparents and Older Relatives Caring for Young Children
An informal one-day workshop for grandparents and older relatives who are, or may be, caring for young children. A maximum of 20 participants could include link workers where appropriate. The workshop will be led by an older person.
Contact with Birth Grandparents After Adoption
A one-day workshop for 15 - 25 workers involved in family placement and their managers. This training is offered to individual local authorities and voluntary agencies and consortiums, which want to develop practice in line with Adoption Standards and the Adoption and Children Bill 2000.
Grandparents and Other Relatives Related to Children by Adoption
This workshop for up to 15 participants is designed to stand alongside local authority and voluntary agency preparation and training for adopters of older or disabled children. It can be tailored to fit in with the agency's programme and may be offered to all prospective relatives by adoption as well as to people who have already become adoptive grandparents, uncles, aunts or cousins.
