Sometimes you might need a bit of a break. This might be possible if, for instance, the child can sometimes spend a day, a weekend or a short holiday with their parents or with another family member. Could the child take part in children’s activities such as Brownies or Scout camps that would be a way for you to have a break while  they have fun with other children? There’s nothing wrong with needing respite, and it might make all the difference to being able to carry on, but you should always try to put the child’s needs first. Respite works best if the child goes somewhere they want to be.
