Candidates: please pledge your support for kinship families here
On 12 December, the UK will head to the polls in a General Election.
This means that from Wednesday 6 November parliament will no longer meet and instead we’ll have five weeks of election campaigning with the candidates in your constituency vying for your vote. This is a great opportunity to raise awareness of the challenges facing kinship carers.
Help us to get as many candidates as possible to pledge their support for kinship families and commit to championing kinship care in the next parliament.
To take part:
We have put together the below information to help you raise awareness of kinship care during the election. Please let us know when you get in touch with your candidates, whatever the outcome, by emailing [email protected]
The timing of this general election means that the Kinship Care Parliamentary Taskforce has had to postpone the publication of their report on kinship care. We know many of you took part in the drafting of this report, from responding to surveys to attending working groups and meeting with MPs and we are sorry for any disappointment this delay causes. We will let you know as soon as we have the new date that the report will be published.
Campaigning at Grandparents Plus
We hear all the time the challenges that kinship carers face through a lack of information, advice and support and our campaigns are built around the changes that kinship carers tell us they want to see. Our campaigns are developed with our advisory group of kinship carers, and we also listen to the kinship carers who complete our annual surveys.
