Kinship Care Week takes place in October each year. It's a national week to raise awareness, understanding and recognition of the role of kinship carers.
Kinship Care Week was kick started by Kinship Carers Liverpool and in 2018 Grandparents Plus and Kinship Carers Liverpool joined forces to make the week even bigger.
We know that only 1 in 10 kinship carers say they are getting the support they need. They step in to do the right thing and raise a family members children, often turning their lives upside down. More often than not they feel invisible, unsupported and alone. Kinship Care Week is an opportunity to thank and celebrate kinship carers, and to raise their profile across the country.
