As a volunteer, the time you give really does matter. Without the support of volunteers we couldn’t do what we do. If you’d like to help make a difference to kinship carers and their families we’d love to hear from you.
During the COVID-19 outbreak all volunteer roles that are carried out face to face or based in our office have been put on hold to ensure the safety of our volunteers and our kinship carers.
During this time, kinship carers and their families will still need support. If you are a kinship carer, or have been one in the past, and you are able to provide telephone support to kinship carers please get in touch about becoming a volunteer for our Someone Like Me Service. You will receive remote training and support to prepare you.
Family Grants Officer
We are currently looking to recruit and train a group of passionate Grants Volunteers, to meet the recent big increase we’ve had in applications for grants from vulnerable and often isolated carers. Grants tend to focus on white goods, furniture and electronics, and successful applications can make a huge difference to the lives of carers and their children. Our Advice team need a committed group of skilled volunteers to contact carers and write those all-important applications, as well as supporting with processing of successful grant awards. We are open to interest from everyone, but the ideal volunteer will:
- Have some experience working or volunteering in advice, fundraising or grants
- Be confident building a trusting connection with carers over the phone
- Be computer literate and confident using online systems for form filling and case management
- Be able to commit a minimum of four hours a week
