About the role
As our Project Worker for our Kinship Active programme, you’ll be working with kinship families to provide a supportive environment to help kinship families get more active together. You’ll work with local providers to offer free or low-cost local activities and a peer support network.
You’ll work with kinship families to provide information, signposting and tailored support alongside a range of intergenerational physical activities designed to increase participation and improve physical, cognitive and social health. The programme was launched last year in Middlesbrough and Redcar & Cleveland with funding from Sport England.
What we’re looking for
Our kinship carers are at the heart of what we do, so you’ll be absolutely committed to the work of Grandparents Plus and passionate about making a difference to the lives of vulnerable families.
You’ll have the interpersonal and communication skills to inspire and
motivate kinship families to increase the frequency and intensity of
their physical activity, within a supportive framework. You’ll have
experience of working with vulnerable families and including adults or
children with disabilities or long-term health conditions. You’ll be
able to perform the role sensitively and creatively and work
collaboratively with partner agencies across Middlesbrough. You’ll be
committed to empowering carers through peer-to-peer support and
social action, so will also have strong volunteer recruitment, motivation and management skills.
You’ll be a doer with a positive attitude. The nature of our work means that things can change quickly, so you’ll need to be able to problem solve and keep a cool head.
This role will be what you make it and we’re looking for someone to seize this opportunity.
