The 20 minutes it took to let us know about your experiences, the challenges you’re facing and the issues you are worried about as a kinship carer are invaluable to every aspect of our work.
Your responses mean we can build a picture of kinship care, locally and nationally, which helps us to strengthen the case we make to local authorities when we ask them to provide support groups and other services for kinship carers. It also helps us understand how to shape our programmes to best support you, plus we can show funders exactly why it’s so important to invest in kinship care.
Over the past year the survey has helped us reach over 10 million people through media coverage during and beyond Kinship Care Week. The results of the survey made the media sit up and listen, and the voice of every kinship carers who spoke or wrote about their experiences brought it to life for the people reading, watching and listening to the news across the UK.
Your answers meant that we could tell the candidates during this election exactly what needs to happen for kinship care. From this we created our vision for kinship care, which will inform our campaigning during 2020.
We’re really excited to get started on our campaign for better access to support groups for all kinship carers next year. Please do keep in touch with us, or check the on our website to find out more and get involved in 2020.
We will be running the survey again in 2020 – please keep an eye out for it and in the meantime we will continue to do everything we can to raise awareness of kinship care.
