The sun is shining, the nights are getting lighter and Spring is just around the corner.
Thoughts of trips to the seaside and outings to the countryside can start coming to mind.
Many of the kinship carers we work with struggle to afford a holiday or outing for the family and some have never had a holiday as a family at all.
Having a break away from home as a family can make such a difference to families like yours, allowing you to do things together for the first time and to just have a break away from day to day life and worries.
Packing suitcases and planning adventures can be so exciting for everyone.
- have a low income or are in receipt of benefits and;
- have not had a holiday as a family for a while;
you may be eligible for us to apply for a holiday on your behalf. The Family Holiday Association are the only national charity dedicated to providing seaside holidays and day trips to families suffering with some of the toughest challenges life can bring. Applications need to be made through a referrer and we may be able to do an application on your behalf.
The holidays are usually in caravan parks in the UK and the breaks will normally be during term time and so you would need to get permission to take your child out of school.
The charity can sometimes even help with travel costs.
If you have a child with a long term health problem or disability, you may be eligible for a holiday from The Family Fund. They provide grants for holidays and other essential items to families on a low income, raising disabled or seriously ill children across the UK. You can apply to them yourself and to find out how to apply, please go to https://www.familyfund.org.uk/faqs/how-do-we-apply
