Ken aged 80 and his wife aged 76 took on the care of their grandchildren in sad circumstances, following the death of their daughter.
Both Ken and his wife are retired and their case was referred to our Advice Team by one of our Project Workers in Leeds after she met with them.
Following a benefits check it was discovered that Ken and his wife were being underpaid Pension Credit. Their entitlement was missing two child elements, two carer’s premiums and two severe disability premiums.
Our Senior Adviser supported Ken with completing the required forms and contacting the relevant departments in order to increase his benefit entitlement. As a result of the advice and support Ken received, he and his family are now £14,385 better off per year.
