We’re delighted to announce our new kinship care support service for local authorities is now available to be commissioned. It’s called Kinship Connected, and helps local authorities support and empower kinship families in their area through independent project worker and peer support.
Informed by and adapted from the Big Lottery funded Relative Experience programme run by Grandparents Plus in partnership with Family Lives, Kinship Connected features one-to-one support from Grandparents Plus project workers, peer support group development, workshops for kinship carers and consultancy services.
The service is bespoke, and can be tailored to each local authority’s specific needs.

“We’re really pleased to be able to launch Kinship Connected as a cost-effective way for local authorities to support kinship carers in their area. We know that kinship care is the main route to permanence for children who can’t live with their parents, but we also know that it can be very difficult for kinship carers to know where to turn for support. Through Kinship Connected, we can support and empower kinship carers and Special Guardians to provide the best homes they can for the children they care for.”
